PCR Technology—The Game-Changer

On July 1, 2021, ARL began to perform routine testing of E. coli, Salmonella, and Staphylococcus aureus via Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technology. ARL worked closely with BioMerieux to validate this method which significantly benefits ARL's partners, and will reduce delays in reporting caused by retesting. We had three goals in mind:

  • Equivalency
  • Selectivity
  • Speed

Significant Improvements

While traditional microbiology methods rely on evaluating physical, morphological, and chemical characteristics of organisms, PCR detects microbial species on the genetic level, which results in a significant decrease in false positives and inaccurate interpretations. PCR improves the selectivity, accuracy, speed, and quality of testing results.

Timely and Accurate

We recognize that the most critical commodity our partners possess is time, and time wasted is costly. Timely and accurate results ensure that you, our partner, can deliver your products to market quickly and with confidence; this is the key to your success. With PCR technology, ARL will accelerate results and reduce turnaround times by up to four days.

The Game-Changer

PCR is a game-changer, and all of these improvements come at no additional cost or necessary action from you. We value you as our partner, and we will continue to look for ways to help you achieve ever-greater success.
